Impact on the Community

Through this collaborative project, artists create works of art to help put food on the plates of Overtown’s youth at Touching Miami with Love.  As well companies, restaurants, church groups, and individuals are invited to join us to serve pre-prepared dinners as Guest Chefs.  Find out more about how to join in our evening dinners HERE.

The Art that Feeds project supports our Today’s Leaders High School Youth Development Program enriching our programming and giving youth the simple gift of sitting down together over a hot, nutritious meal to begin each evening’s programming. We offer meals and programming for our youth every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening, year-round.

The statistics are clear, kids who take part in regular family dinners get better grades and stay away from cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs which is why doctors and educators are making the push to get families back to the table. But what if your mom’s shift is during the dinner hour or you just don’t have enough to eat at home? Touching Miami with Love (TML) creates a home away from home for teens in Overtown in their evening programs and our new project, Art That Feeds, helps keep dinner first on the agenda.

Touching Miami with Love’s Youth Program provides a variety of opportunities to our youth in our Overtown community. Students participate in life skills classes, entrepreneurial projects, creative arts, character education, computer class, tutoring, and recreation. Our youth program also provides community service opportunities, field trips and special events for youth in the Overtown community.
